There are significant cost savings available to builders when you substitute ALPHAFLOOR for particle board on the first floor of homes, this is driven by the new 7 star NatHERS/BASIX requirements. When using particle board flooring there is a significant cost required to meet 7 stars usually in upgrading windows to double glazed and sometimes even thermally broken windows.

 

Incorporation of ALPHAFLOOR generally adds 0.2 - 0.5 star rating due to its significant thermal mass contribution (depending on orientation, climate zone etc.). Because of this BASIX/NatHERS Boost, the builder can either save in upgrades which would otherwise be required to meet the 7 stars, or in difficult circumstances incorporation of ALPHAFLOOR will greatly assist in achieving compliance with 7 stars in circumstances which would otherwise not be achievable when utilising particle board flooring.
